Pisa

Pisa is one of the most important cities in Tuscany and among the best known in the world, thanks to its universally famous symbol: the Leaning Tower.

Pisa is a city that is both ancient and modern at the same time and is proud of its past as a world power, experiencing the peak of its dominion during the Middle Ages, when it expanded over vast territories as a Maritime Republic. Today, it is famous for having three Universities among the most important in Italy: the Scuola Normale Superiore, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the University of Pisa.

Pisa is also an international city, connected to the whole world thanks to its Galileo Galilei intercontinental airport, which makes it a destination accessible from anywhere in the world.

There are plenty of things to see: you can start by walking along the splendid Lungarni (the Arno river doesn’t only flow in Florence) and then proceeding towards Piazza dei Miracoli, unique in the world for number of monuments: the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Cemetery and, indeed, the Tower of Pisa. By the way, did you know that it's not the only leaning tower in the city? There is also the bell tower of the Church of San Nicola near the Lungarno and the bell tower of San Michele degli Scalzi - in this case, the entire Church is tilted.
